IEC 61850 Training

IEC 61850 is the new international substation automation standard. It models the data flow from the switchyard through the bay, the station and the network level to the control center. Cooper Power Systems IEC 61850 training introduces participants to the basic concepts of the standard and leads them through the steps of implementing an automation project. The training focuses on the use of IEC 61850 devices in real substation automation applications, not on the standard itself.

Yukon Visual T&D Training

Visual T&D is the perfect companion to the SMP Gateway. It provides an easy to set up solution for utilities that need a full-featured HMI for substations or small networks.

Using Visual T&D Training
Basic Visual T&D training. Covers principles of operation, configuring the server and client applications, using the Explorer and Diagram Editor programs, using shape libraries to build single-line diagrams. Two days. Price per participant (minimum 3).

Yukon IED Manager Suite Training

This training introduces participants to the architecture and functions of IMS. Participants learn how to set up the system, configure and use all system modules, and perform system maintenance.

Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Demand Response (DR) Project Facilitation

For new projects, Cooper Power Systems assigns individual project managers upon receipt of a new system order and the project is ready to get underway. This way Cooper Power Systems can ensure your utility receives a project manager who can devote ample time to support and assist the utility in a successful deployment of their system. Cooper Power Systems has many qualified and project managers and technical consultants within our Customer Service department. Utilities can be confident that your project management team will have extensive knowledge of the solution and best practices when it comes to the deployment of your system.

Upon receipt of order, Cooper Power Systems assigns a three-member team of project management professionals:

• Primary Project Manager
• Secondary Project Manager
• Project Coordinator

This team will facilitate your project including project schedule, materials procurement, shipment scheduling, project commissioning, system training, acceptance training, etc. The Cooper Power Systems team prides itself on comprehensive system implementation working hand in hand with your implementation team.

Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Training

For new projects, Cooper Power Systems offers a comprehensive training plan that will be tailored and customized to meet each utility’s needs.

Cooper Power Systems recommends all initial training take place at the utility on its own system, where a train-the-trainer model is utilized. This allows the utility to implement a sustainable training model as the organization grows or personnel shift in their duties.

Yukon AMI Operator training
Administrative training includes topics such as database building, communications setup, PLC routing, metering scheduler, setting up graphs, configuration of browser-based interfaces, report generation, notification setup, theory of operations, background information, third-party interfaces, server maintenance, etc. Pre-requisites include use of Windows software. Skill sets including metering and IT understanding are helpful but not required. Two days.

Hardware training/installation assistance for field personnel
Basic training following initial hardware install and detailed follow-up training upon full system implementation. This training happens during commissioning where details on all components are explained to necessary personnel. This includes things such as PLC connections, signal propagation, injector components, testing/commissioning tools, etc. There are no prerequisites for trainees, though backgrounds in line maintenance, substations, metering, communications, and/or electronics are helpful. Two to three, two-hour classes in the field.

Billing Administrators and Customer Service Rep (CSR) training
Software Application training with focus on CSR browser interface, generation and reconciliation of billing files, and answering customer queries on high-bill and energy quality complaints using Yukon. Two, one-hour classes.

In addition, Cooper Power Systems provides user training at our annual Cooper EAS Users Conference, including presentations and training on a wide range of topics from basic operation of the system to advanced features. Attendees of the conference will also learn about new product offerings and experience case study presentations by many of our users.
