Energy Automation Solutions (EAS), a business unit of Cooper Power Systems (CPS), provides comprehensive automation technologies and expertise in order to assist customers to improve productivity, system reliability, and energy efficiency. These comprehensive automation solutions integrate both legacy and new transmission and distribution products.

Distribution feeder automation solutions including fault detection and location, centralized real-time capacitor bank controls, integrated VOLT/VAR management, capacitor bank blown fuse detection, switch monitoring, energy theft, and automated feeder reconfiguration (centralized and decentralized).

Customer premise AMI solutions including residential demand response (load management), C&I demand response, distributed generation, and Power Line Carrier (PLC) AMR in rural areas.

Substation automation (cyber security) solutions including asset monitoring (power transformer and breakers), IED interoperability, IED management, local and remote visual transmission and distribution and security beyond NERC CIP.

EAS delivers these end-to-end automation solutions integrating communications, sensors/controls, and software applications using the following operating principles:

EAS is communications agnostic—Leverage utility selected communication network and collaborate with communication providers to integrate communications into desired sensors/controls. The Yukon software platform manages most communication technologies, and manages multiple communication networks in parallel.

EAS is software integration agnostic—Provide the Yukon software platform with add-on applications for managing the automation solutions and integrate with existing software platforms such as SCADA, DMS, or OMS.

EAS provides integration technology and expertise—Integrate sensors/controls, communications, and software to leverage existing customer investments and equipment. The Yukon software platform manages legacy sensors/controls as well as multi-vendor sensors. Yukon IED Manager Suite and SMP Gateways enable communication/automation with any IED regardless of medium, protocol, vendor or vintage. EAS supports field installations with qualified and experienced communications and project management leaders.
